Dog (2024)
- animatronic sculpture; found wood, servo motors, accordion bellow, castor wheels, arduino..
Thinking of the movement patterns I noted in the twitching of my dogs legs as he slept, the "running in his dreams" seemed like a meaningful display of a limp kind of sleepwalking. Any external display of subnconscious processes to me speaks to the closeness between the body and the machine. To extract that and put into a mechanical body would be interesting. The mechanical dog looks more like its been hit by a car and is fighting to stay conscious.. but it's like Nas said, "sleep is the cousin of death".
